LIFELONG LEARNING METHOD FOR THE SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT OF THE FEMALE GENDER

Abstract

This paper is based on a study conducted in 2015 to determine the extent to which online learning brings about sustainable development to the female gender. Experienced lecturers from higher institutions in Imo, Anambra, Eboyi, Enugu and Abia States were used for collecting data for the study. The study adopted survey approach as primary data source for investigating the research problem. Pre-designed self-administered questionnaire was used for data collection. A total of 168 lecturers from Psychology, Philosophy, Computer Science, Information Management, Computer and Telecommunication Engineering were involved in the study of which 42.86% were males and 57.14% females. The study has indicated sustainable improvement of knowledge and skills for a significant proportion of respondents (100%) and (51.19%) respectively. The results also show that online learning is a lifelong learning that makes females to be more competent. It is suggested that online learning be adopted by every female for the achievement of sustainable development.
